In the middle of changing water pump, have questions.

Taking the long weekend to change out the water pump on my 560sl. It was pretty shot, had about 1/8 inch play in it if you pulled on the pulley.

Anyway, I've got it down removing the last few bolt behind the damper and need to know a few things.

Q1: Do I take only the 27mm bolt out of the crankshaft to get the pully and damper off or do I have to take all the perimeter bolts off inside the pulley and take the pulley and damper off separately?

Q2: I have the timing pointer set on TDC. If I mark the top of the pulley at top, shouldn't it line up fine when I reassemble?

Any other caveats or short cuts since I've come this far?

Thanks.

J. Boggs
