Thumbs down My C280 is a piece of crap - how about yours??

I need some advise here. I currently have 115K on my 96' C280 and here is the list of what has gone wrong:

Water Pump - $450
Oxygen Sensor - don't remember but at least $300
Front End rebuild - for alignment - bushings etc - $1100
ABS unit failed - $1000
Numerous little electrical and other things totaling $500

My question to you - should I keep it or get rid of it? Kelly blue book says it is only worth $10,000

I paid $26K with 47K mileage on it and have maintained it religiously.

Not impressed with the quality at all. The local dealer here in Decatur GA is the worst dealership of any car I have ever dealt with.

My wife drives it for business and i just wonder how many miles I will get out of this car and wether it is worth it to replace all the little things going wrong with it. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Classic Repairs in Decatur

(404) 292-2683 - Matt is the owner

Great guy - knows his Benz -all he does - independent shop that has saved me a fortune - I don't have to wait two weeks for an appointment then another two week for repairs like at - the official dealership in Decatur.

DO NOT take it to Atlanta Classic Cars on church street in Decatur - worst service I ever had - only benefit is they give you a loaner - which is nice - we got a E420 -

you guys are in GA, then you should check out

www.mbautowerks.com

You can buy your parts here for less than the dealer too.

The owners of this site - Bill Wood (Webmaster) and Donnie (Benzmac) - own their own shop in Peachtree, GA:

Yeah I know about MB Autowerks. The only problem is it is an hour from my house WITHOUT traffic. During rush hour it could take more than 1:30 to get there.

This guy had me crying for him!! I can relate to these feelings, but I wouldn't have expected this stuff on newer Benz. This kind of stuff makes a Kia look good!!

bjcsc - that is an amazing story. Makes me glad I still have a last year 126 car. Actually, all of these web stories make me feel this way.

While our 1998 C230 has been incredibly reliable and trustworthy, our 1998 E300 was a terrible car and spent a great of deal of time being repaired.

This experience has completely turned my wife off any MB product in the future. She had talked about an SLK, but her E300 experience talked her out of it.

She's going to drive the ol 190E for a while and then shop for something new. Probably a Japanese product...
