heater blower regulator
had intermitant blower motor found broken wire on right side of climate control switch 82 380sl 107 soldered connection.
remove and blew clean climate control switch no evidence of breaks in solder cleaned and replaced. blower motor works with 12 volts applied. where do i find the blower regulator and is there anyway of testing it to see if it the problem. if i place the left harness to the climate control switch and press the defrost button the blower works but only in high and with out help from the blower switches please help? no blower with right harness on now |

In DEF only, there is a direct electrical connection between the blower and the control unit. The blower speed on other settings is controlled by electrical resistance in the entire system which in turn is driven by the difference in the desired temperature versus the actual temperature. There are also vacuum switches that control current to the blower depending on which setting is selected.
The actual voltage to the blower is controlled by pre-resistors located next to the blower unit. This is a very complicated system to troubleshoot. Personally, I suspect you have a problem with the vacuum side of the system or the servo. I am working through the same sorts of problems on my 107. Good luck!

I could not reply to your email - AOL says docdav130 is not valid, but here is what I would have said.
There is no "blower regulator" that I'm aware of. There is a relay behind the glove box, and there is a set of resistors near the motor. If the blower is working on DEF then the relay is OK. The speed of the motor is controlled by the "system" depending on the desired/actual temperature and the function selected on the control panel.

Wait - are your climate control buttons vertical or horizontal? I horizontal, forget what I've said - you have the newer system, and I was referring to the older type.
