My fan has stoppped working on my 300TE. The Air/Heat works but, the fan does not blow at all at any speed. We started the car one day and presto no fan movement. I checked all the fuses I think but no luck. Its getting cold!!!!!!!!!

Well, my blower went out and it turned out to be a false contact in the fusebox. Try locating the fuse, cleaning the contacts & fuse with tuner cleaner or gently with 00 or 000 steel wool. It can't hurt. Do this with the ignition off. You might even disconnect the battery. Check for continuity with a battery-powered 1.5 or 3v tester or a voltmeter.

300TE, that's a W124 chassis.

First, the fuse is a flat fuse (30 amps ?) that is located in a holder off of the top of the LF strut tower. Check this first.

Second, if the blower does not work on any setting of the pushbutton unit, check the plug for the blower motor/regulator. It is a 3 pin plug located just behind and above the brake booster. I believe the wires are brown (ground), black (power) and yellow (control voltage). Should be battery voltage between the black and brown (ignition on). Then from the yellow wire should be in the range of 4 to 5 volts.
If these voltages are ok, then the blower motor AND/OR the blower regulator are bad. If cannot know which is bad until you take it all apart. They are located 6-8 inches below the wiper motor.

Tech Tip of the Day!
When removing the wiper motor, beware of prior windshield installers that have used way too much goop to glue the window in. Windshields crack if you sneeze or lean on the edge to hard. Be carefull!

When in doubt, let an experienced MB Tech do the job.

89 124 chassis should have a aux. fuse holder with a metal type fuse for the blower motor. Locate just forward of the fuse box.
The test procedure of the blower system is very basic. There is a three pin connector tucked behind and to the right of the brake booster. Very hard to reach. Remove the connector and test for voltage at the pins comming out of the firewall. You should have a pin that has 12v with key on. Another is a ground and the third is a control voltage that will range from <1v on low speed to about 6v on defrost. If these are in order then you need to access the blower motor and elctronic blower regulator. This is kind of deep so start there and report back.

Fixed, it was infact the fuse located just forward of the fuse box. All is well. I hope this was the only problem, with winter coming.
