124 400E 92 Dust Filters question

Hi all,

Do you know if the 400E 92 has 2 dust filters for ventilation?

I'm planning a major check for the car and somebody said me I'll need to change them.

Thanks a lot.

I don't believe the filters were issued until the 94/95 vintage in the 124 chassis....

lists 2 at PartsShop, and install details

PartsShop (see headers at top of page) lists 2 filters for 92 400e.

http://catalog.eautopartscatalog.com/mercedesshop/wizard.jsp?partner=mercedesshop&year=1992&make=MB&model=400-E-001&category=R&part=ACC+Cabin+Filter

I posted a thread detailing ACC filter replacement for W202 at: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/tech-help/53623-cheap-tune-up-acc-systems-check-change-your-cabin-filter-if-applicable.html

your 400 may be similar installation.

hope that helps. - benton

<<PartsShop (see headers at top of page) lists 2 filters for 92 400e.>>

We went through this last year and it was found that the listing is a mistake... they even list them for "86-92 300e, but in reality, only the 94/95 -124 models have them..

Yours are in the cabin.. The 124s [94/95 ] are in the engine compartment - above the blower unit and are much harder to replace...
As stated by others , when doing a blower motor/regulator, they should be changed BC they can restrict the cooling air for the regulator heat sink..[ and you are there anyway]

Here is a thread on the matter..
* Note GBenz post telling how , with a simple under-hood
observation, one can tell if his 124 model has the filter system without dis-assembly.....

FL/PS bad info forwarded to anyone there?

OOPS. my bad. i was simply trying to help a user that is newer than me. i wasnt a member last year when the bad info at FL/PS was first noted.

i searched the archives and did not find any posts that alerted Phil at FL/PS that they had a mistake on their list of filters.

did anyone alert them that their info is incorrect? that would keep newer members like me from giving bad info while trying to help others. - benton

I have seen the same info on other order sites that use the same format , so it is confusing.

An Indie friend went to the local Benz Dealer for a parts pick-up last week and the parts guy said they are listed in the Benz parts system as fitting all 124s as well , so maybe that is where the original info came from..
Don't know, for sure...

Ok, you are right, no dust filter on 92's. MB only has a dust filter reference for this model related to the blower unit, and no change is needed. Thanks a lot everybody for your input.

Rgds.
