124 Fuel Pressure Regulator hose
Hi,
I am trying to reconnect the vacuum line from the air cleaner breather hose to the fuel pressure reg. There is a hole in the back of the regulator but the rubber fitting doesn't seem to be there. Anyone have a picture and or a fix? I'd like to get the fitting right. Not sure how long the fitting has been off. I'd say at least a year, probably more. Could this be responsible for the rough idle at times? Thanks. chicago124 1990 300E Last edited by chicago124; 01-11-2003 at 10:59 PM. |

There is supposed to be a vacuum line from the regulator to the large black hose that connects the air cleaner to the valve cover. There is a small connection at the valve cover side. It's purpose is to provide the fuel an escape route if the diaphram in the regulator fails. Without it, gas will spill on the engine. I'm not sure if you can buy the rubber nipple in the regular. You may want to give Phil a call. If you cannot buy it separate, send me a PM and 'll tell you about a temporary fix.

Hi,
Thanks. How can the vacuum line be reattached to the Fuel Pressure Regulator? There doesn't seem to be a way to attach it. I believe a small piece might be missing from the Regulator but I am not so sure. Perhaps I need to get a small piece of fuel line to attach to the Regulator then insert the vacuum hose? If so, what size do I need? I suspect that a piece has broken off and the above may not be possible. Thanks again. chicago124 |

The line is made to the regulator and it is broken if missing. It plays no part in the working of the system. its real purpose aside from ctching spills is to vent the disphram. Thye would like the diaphram to vent with clean air so it cones from the aircleaner/pcv hose. Since its there to prevent the regulator from getting moisture and dirt and since its replacement requires a whole expensive regulator, I'd patch it or leave it as you see nevessary.
