Question 10W - What?

Guys, I need a bit of clarification here.

I have read and read and read and read on this terriffic forum about the differences in oils used. The one thing people seem to be most divided about is this 10W - 30W topic.

What's the deal? Some say it's no big deal other say it's the devils own creation for a MB.

I just this morning went and got some Mobil 1 10w-30.

I though synthetic made a difference. This is very good lubrication. How will this kill my engine.

Is there a clear 10W -30 answer?

Thanks
Steve

Look in your manual for the correct viscosity v. ambient air temperature. I know the chart that corresponds with my C280 does not approve of 10w30 under any condition.
