bad rear alignment

My "new" 1985 300SD has devoured new rear tires in a mere 6000 miles. The wheels, rotors, and wheel bolting flange are visually misaligned. Specifically, both sides are angled in too much on the bottom and front. The tire store says there is no adjustment available. Is it really hopeless?

There has to be a reason for the misalignment. Is it because of bent parts, or bent structure or what? Once we know what the problem is, then a solution can be found. Anything can be fixed. Whether it is economically feasible or not is the real question.:D

I would take it to a service facility that knows these cars. Often for an hour's worth of labor or less they can tell you what is wrong and what is needed to be repaired. It would be unusual but not improbable for both sides of the suspension to have been damaged.

Let them look and see. It might not be as bad as it first appears. These cars are known for having rear springs that sag over the years and the rear suspension sub frame mounts wear out. If you need specific pieces, you could always get these pieces from a wrecking yard.

It is very hard to diagnosis without knowing exactly what is wrong.
