Or, you can make your own...
with a coat hanger. Cut two pieces and shape them the same way as the original tool. Cost: less than $1.
There is a picture somewhere in the files. Do a search! How to remove instrument cluster. Try this thread.

Btw if you ever plan to purchase a set of bolt hole covers (have them on my SL), the tool supplied with the kit for removal is the EXACT same tool!
Wish I knew that BEFORE I bought another set! Oh well, now I have three! Handy for easing off interior dash components too!

I used the coat hangers. Worked great!

You can also just reach up under the dash (from near the brake pedal) and push the instrument cluster out. I've never used the hooks and never felt any need to.

Unfortunately, we are talking about a 124!
You have to have very long arms to do it from below. can you say GUMBY?
Another alternative would be removing the left front speaker and push the cluster out.

Don’t need a tool after all!
I was able to remove the cluster by hands just pulling it out from outside… didn’t have to go behind the dash or anything… the cluster must have been removed few times in the past which helped me in this case… also to my surprise, there was no speedometer cable to miss with. My model chassis 124.034 has an electronic wire that connects to the back of the speedometer with about 18" length to it which made it easy to pull the cluster all the way out without disconnecting the speedometer wire.
My next challenge now is to remove the oil pressure gauge and see if I can fix it by replacing some bad components or cold solder joints etc… any ideas there?

[B]No one suggested a toilet plunger. Bit you it would've worked for me since mine came out easily when just pulling the sides out... funny though

Here is an update
Jim,
Here is an update and will add photos on my next update. I am not done yet, so far no luck in repairing the oil pressure gauge. I started this morning by making sure there is enough resistance coming out of the oil pressure sending unit to make the gauge go to 3 bar. I hooked up an ohmmeter between the sender’s connector and ground. It read 20ohms and then started the car and it jumped to about 280 ohms…. As the oil was warming up, the resistance was dropping… all is normal and I had already checked for oil pressure at the shop the other day. Then I disconnected the battery's negative and proceeded to remove the cluster, an easy thing in my car, and all wires in the back were marked, so I just unplugged everything and took the cluster to mywork bench and took off the speedometer first then the gauge module that has oil/temp/fuel next (they have to come out in that order). Looking at the components side of the gauge I could not see any obvious problems. First thing I did was to check the fuse and it was good. I checked the resisters and diodes with the ohmmeter and things looked fine to me. With a soldering iron I touched up all components and connectors around the oil gauge and put everything back together. I reconnected the battery and started the engine… and to my disappointment still no gauge movement. Back to square one. My choices are to either take it to this guy the dealer recommended and pay $200-$300 to have it fixed or find a used gauge (I saw similar gauges but for different models on ebay for $20-30) or look around junkyards and see what I can find. At least this is not a life threatening problem and should be able to drive the car for a while without the oil gauge, but I don’t like the blindness feeling that I don’t know what’s my oil pressure doing. Will update more once I have a fix.

You don't suppose . . .
that it could be the 'cable' from the sender unit to the dash?
