My super reliable 300E 1987 finally let us down. While driving down the freeway(68mph) the car hestitated a few times then finally the engine stopped. I called my road side service to pick up and take us home. Now that I have time to play with it, I think its a fuel problem. The car tries to start but fails everytime. Where is the fuel pump(s) ,located seems like its starved for fuel. Where can I buy a good shop manual for this car?

Thanks in advance

Sounds like the fuel pump relay has quit. Its a black box behind the battery, high failure part.
As far as a good workshop manual the MBUSA cd would be a good bet, as soon as they are avail.

If the fuel pump relay is the old part, it will say kickdown on top of it.
We sell them in the partshop if you need one.

Just wondering is there is a good way to test this relay. I did pull it and it says:

002 545 26 05
6Zyl.6250 min UKT
05 8956 61 KickD.
Is this the correct one?

YUP! A jumper between terminals 30 & 87 should run the pumps instead of the relay. Don't keep the jumper installed just use it for testing.

I will try it tommorrow.

Thanks

Crap must be the fuel pump then. Where is it located, right rear passenger side near the rear wheel correct. Do you guys sell them also?

We do sell them, however it is rare for the pumps to be at fault. I have seen it though. Be sure you are jumping the correct wires on the car to envoke fuel pump trigger. The ones are 87 and 30. 30 should have power on it all of the time and 87 is the output to the pumps.
