S320 (W140) Fuel Gauge Problems
My 1998 S320 seems to have a typical fuel gauge problem. That is when the tank is filled up, the needle shows as if it is 2-3 gallons short of full. It used to take about 220 miles before the needle reaches 1/2 mark but now it takes about 160 miles to do that.
I did a search on this forum and it looks like the fuel sender unit is bad. BUT when I tried to order this part from Fastlane or any other parts stores, there are NO fuel sender unit available for S320. I can see E320's fuel sender units available but it looks as if S320 doesn't have such units. Any ideas? |

Most of the later MB's have this fuel gauge level sensor problem including the 1998 S320. The part number is 140-542-19-17 & has replaced 4 different part numbers!! List is $ 226.
