I'm new here

Just to introduce myself. I participate on another forum but am new here.

I'm from Sydney, Australia where I am currently one of the Vice Presidents of the Mercedes-Benz Club (NSW) Inc. I have been an active club member since 1985.

I have owned my 1973 icon gold with parchment MB-tex 350SLC since 1983. It was my first MB and is is a less than perfect looking, high mileage example that is very reliable and still much loved.

We have owned our (my wife drives this one too) 1990 arctic white with cream-beige tex 300TE since 1998. It is a near perfect, concours class winner despite being a daily driver with over 170,000km. We both love this wagon.

The 1990 arctic white with blue leather 190E 2.3 Sportline 5 speed manual is only a new toy that I couldn't resist due to its extreme rarity in Oz. Does anyone know how many of these were made, especially in right hand drive? It has covered 211,000km and is very original without any evidence of accident damage. With some TLC it should clean up nicely.

Along the way we have owned others including a 1980 300TD and a 1992 180E (190E 1.8 in other markets) 5 speed manual. Both my wife's and my families are also MB owners.

I look forward to participating in this forum.

Welcome Greg!

This is truly a great site. A good group of people all interested in Mercedes. I have only been a member since June of 2001, so I am really still a new member! The knowledge and experience available is remarkable.

People on this forum have gone out of their way to help each other repeatedly and it shows what a good group it is. All of the different sections have a wealth of info.

We show our appreciation of this site by purchasing great priced parts from the sponsor- Fastlane.

Welcome aboard!

I think you will have plenty of reading material for a few nights. Make sure you use the search function on the upper right side of your screen. I am sure you will be another contributor to this great site.
P.S. Does Fast Lane ship to Australia?

Hi Greg, I recognize you from the Benzworld forum.

I think you'll find that this is the best Mercedes forum on the world wide web.

There are a good number of technicians all over the world that help out on this site, with a surprisingly large number of very knowledgeable DIY'ers with good advice, too.

Welcome and enjoy.

Hi Greg, I remember you from the other forum. I believe you'll find a wider audience here on a web site that has a lot more potential.

Thanks for the welcome

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I know some of you from the other forums too. I have also been reading this one for a while, it's just that I had never registered.

Those of you who know me from the other forum probably realise I'm a DIYer (who currently maintains 5 family Benzes and is not afraid to undertake most work except for major auto tranny work) so I hope to be able to contribute to, as well as learn from this forum.

Re FastLane, I'm not aware of anyone in Oz using them. Parts availability is not a problem in Oz with a number of both authorised MB dealer spare parts departments and aftermarket parts suppliers.

Anyway, it's a holiday long weekend this weekend in Oz, so it's time to get busy with the newly aquired 190E and get it looking nice.
