If you like the look of HID light and do not care about seeing the road at night, then keep the Sylvania. If you like to see the road better at night and save some money at the same time, return it to Kragen and buy the Philips Vision Plus at autolamps-online.com for $28 USD or Osram SilverStar for 21.95 BP or about $33 USD at powerbulbs.com. The only problem is no one knows which one will last longer because there is no test had been done to compare the longetivity of these two plus 50 bulbs, so the choice is your.

Keep the Sylvania Silverstar

Let your eyes see the difference. The silverstar is far more superior than stock. As for the name, osram is used because it is well known in europe while sylvania is in the US. If you look at the powerbulbs.com site, u will notice also that osram also has the cool blue bulbs which we have here as sylvania cool blue. It is in the packaging and marketing.

In the philips do you notice the housing becoming more white than the yellowish white from the stock bulbs?

I can BARELY tell the different between the stock H4 and sylvania...

do u have euros on your car?

I tell you it makes such a big difference because of how the lens are cut. It is like having fog lights, the entire road is lit.

The color is definitely much whiter then stock also.

The headlight housings looked brighter and whiter for both cars with the Philips than the stock. But I care more about seeing the road and signs at night than how my headlight looked. The final decision is your, pay more and get less light on the road or pay less and seeing the road better.

i have bought the philips vision plus 50's from powerbulbs. i also purchased the osram silverstars from them.[have never installed osram's yet]

i feel they are a very good quality bulb and very nice "white" light from a 55/60 bulb.

jce, glen and i believe several other members here have the philips and have been pleased.

i had NEVER heard any bad comments until apb shared their short lived bulb life story.

right now i'm on a "yellow bulb" kick, for bad weather.
80/100 with a yellow glass baloon cover.

a pic of the u.s. silverstars in an '02 explorer.

Hi Peter,
I am happy with Philips Vision Plus that I installed on both '00 E430 and '94 Lexus LS400 since April 2001. Both sets are still working on both cars. Only APB had his Philips VP burnt out in less than six months and he is upset about the short life of the Philips VP.
I am buying the H7 Navra Ultra High Output to see if it really generates the 2100 lumens that Daniel Stern claims in his web site. If it does produce that much light for only 65W, then it may have shorter life span compares with standard bulb. Is it worth $60?

Yeah I got 'em Vision Plus H4's. I couldn't really tell the difference between them and the Autozone H4's I had before because I didnt use the Autozone bulbs for long.. :p

However my headlights are pretty damn bright for something designed in 1970's.

It sure ain't as bright as the new Bimmers' halogens (which are amazing IMO) but really good.
