Hi, I have a couple of question regarding the replacement of coolant hoses. Yesterday I found one of my upper coolant hose is leaking on my 93 300E ( M104 engine ) The coolant level drop drastically, but no signs of over heating.I have already ordered the upper hose, but since the upper hose when bad, I suppose the condition of other coolant hoses are probably as bad, or close enough to their time limit ? Is it a good idea to replace rest of the coolant hose ?
Do I need to put some kind material on each end of the new hose when installing the new hoses ?
Is it a good time to flush the whole entire cooling system ?
What is the proper way to flush the coolant system ?
How many hoses are there on the M104 system ?
Thank you very much for your help. Any tips or concerns will be greatly appericated.
Peter regards

Many times when the hoses start to fail, you will have a head gasket failure. Oil causes the hose to swell and break.
The other thing is to make sure you get the factory clamps with the hoses. Make sure the radiator neck is OK many fail and it looks like a hose slipped off, but the radiator is actually broken.

First of all thank you very much for your inputs and I found that you are correct BenzMac. I just had my headgasket and upper timing cover leak fixed just a while ago. Just to make sure it is a hose problem, after reading your message, I frist squeeze the hose and found coolant shooting out from from serval spots. I took out the hose and saw a couple of cuts inside of the hose when I look at it under the light.
I think what I will do is to replace the hose first, then see if the leak still occur, if it does I will have the shop take a look at it.
Just by any chances, is it okay to use to old mercedes hose clamps ?
Onces again thank you very much for your help.

You can reuse the clamps, but you run the risk of the clamps failing.
Thanks
