I just bought a 1992 300SE, 98,000 miles. Perfect car except the trunk lid does not power close. It does fit snug when slammed shut. Where should I start checking?? Thanks, Fred

DOC, you were right, removing those fuses and putting them back in did make it start to work, but 2 days later I find it has quit again. Do I need to replace that pump, will my doors quit working off of that same pump soon. I can live the trunk lid not working as I have a tight seal already.

Thanks for all your help, Fred

Early cars have problems w/closing assist pump. Try removing fuses #3 & 9 from the rear fuse box for 5-10 sec & see if it will start working again. If yes I'll bet that your car has the early version pump.

If the pump fails again shortly after you disconnect the power and it works, you will need a new pump.
We sell them of course. The pump is located in the upper left hand portion of the trunk against the rear back rest behind the grey mat./

Fred,

After the trunk stops working, the doors will soon follow. However, change only if you think it's necessary. My car's pumps have failed twice, and the last pump finally get it right.....
