Talking belt tensioner nut direction?

Installed a new belt on my 1989 300E. Loosened the 19 mm bolt at the bottom and can't remember which direction I turn the 13 mm adjusting nut on top.

Does it go clockwise or counterclockwise to tighten the belt as you're facing the engine?

Thanks!

You turn it clockwise. If the 19 mm nut is loose enough (not too loose, one or so turn) you'll see the pointer advance.
