Lightbulb diagnostic codes

I own a 1995 c280 and a 1997 c230. What type of diagnostics are used on these vehicles. Is there a reasonably priced scanner out there for reading error codes. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

What you need to determine is if your car is OBDII. Some cars in '95 were OBDII and some not. OBDII became mandatory in '96 in the US.

If the car is OBDII there are many products on the market to draw the codes. If you have a laptop with a good battery and a bright enough display, you can get a great software and cable product from "EASE Diagnostics." You can find them at obd2.com. Look for the "Personal" products. They are affordable and very good.

Good luck,
