auto gearbox, car surges on engaging drive

i've never owned an automatic before so have no reference point, but my car has a noticeable surge when i engage drive, or reverse. considering how subtle the gear changes are once the car is moving, this seems a bit excessive.

i wonder is this something that will need addressing, or just a harmless trait caused by perhaps a high idle, cold starts etc.

many thanks in advance. jb

His profile says :- 1982 W123 200T

I kinda wish they had this info under 'location' or something

sorry guys,

it's a 1983 W123 200T. i did try to change my identification on this site to include the car so i didn't have to mention it every time i asked something but it seems you can change everything but your username.

i'll go back and try and stick it in options.

still very interested in your opinions on the transmission though, thanks. jb

(ps, just tried to put the car at the bottom of my messages, but failed miserable, how do some people manage to get their on?)

Go to the top of the page and click the blue "user cp" button. On the next page, click "edit profile". On your profile page, put your desired information in the "signature box" and save your changes.

From that point forward, that info will appear after every post you make. ;)
