use of anti-squeal shims

the pbr pads that i got from fastlane came with anti squeal shims. do i put grease on the back of those? how exactly are they supposed to be used?

You apply it on the back of the shims because the pistons are contacting the shims not the pads.

300E 2.8 front brake pads.

well, that part i figured out. i wasn't sure whether or not to grease it. i wound up greasing it on both sides as a buddy suggested.

BTW, if anyone is looking to do the fronts on a 300E 2.8 like mine, it has the floating calipers like on a 126. in the CD there are no instructions specifically for my car. i looked at the one for a 126 which had a similar type caliper. the procedure is to take off the bolt at the bottom not the top as you won't be able to swing it out all the way. and lastly, the self locking bolts weren't available at the dealership as everyone says. they said that they never replace them and that they just use loctite...
