w140 Rear Window Retractable Sunscreen
 
The fuse is ok but mine has stopped responding.

Any known rectifiable problems with these, or is it 'remove and replace'?

Do you hear the motor running? If so then the plastic toothed belt that drives it is broken. (same belt is used on the hirschmann automatic antennas.)
Gotta pull it out and replace it.
