300E Tranny Question
I've finally tracked down the source of the leak in the transmission of my 300E. It is comming from a large (1.5") cap with 12mm Allen on the side. It is on drivers side forward of the linkage.
My question: Can I remove this cap and replace the gasket or o-ring without disturbing the internals? Also, I bought this car used and, per the pan gasket I replaced, the benz parts guy thought someone had put a 400e tranny in the car. Didn't know that was possible but that's what he said. All help greatly appreciated. John H

Tighten it, the front band dogbone is behind there, if you take it make sure you get the dogbone set right. If I remeber right, there is a block in there that'll hold it, the seal is nothing more than a alloy washer.
