Parking Brake Adjustment?
Car: 1993 500 SEL (140 chassis)
Parking brake seems to hold, but pushes almost to the floor (within 5 mm of floor). I have the Service Library fo rthe 201 chassis - are the parking brakes the same? I'm thinking of replacing the parking brake pads. Do you have comments or suggestion. Yes, the car has been driven with the parking brake on. Ouch Are all the adjustment back at the brakes (adjustment screw accessed through the "hole").

There are two places for adjustment. The hole in the rear hub which adjusts the actual brake shoes and the turnbuckle in the cable. The turnbuckle would need to be adjusted to remove any "hanging" slack from the parking brake cable.
If the car has been driven with the parking brake on for only a short distance, adjustment might be in order. If driven for an extended period, you'll probably want to replace the parking brake shoes. The parking brake pedal should begin to tighten up after about three clicks.

I have not seen the cable.
Let me confirm the connection to the parking break is not hydrolic - connection is a cable. Thanks fo rthe help.

I think I have to replace my lines, since they are very rusted and I think one of them snapped. I remember my mech put new brake shoes on when I bought the car from him, but it only worked onces or twice and now when I pull it to the max it bearly brakes, won't hold the car at idle.

the parking brake mechanical star wheel adjuster is accessed through a lug bolt hole if 140's have internal 'shoes' on the rotors.
you might need new shoes, and i believe the manual recommends applying them lightly while driving to clean them up every once and a while. take the rotor off and have a peak the e brake is quite important!
