Inner door panel plastic moisture barriers: Two types?

I noticed that some of the later cars seem to have a poor panel moisture barrier that has a black felt (or so it appears). Is this so?

Can these be ordered for older cars? 124's and 201's?

There are 4.

Foam, formed to fit. 140, 210 fronts, 203's
Plastic, just like a kitchen garbage bag. 126, 124's
plastic with 1/8" jute on it. 124's, early 210's
Some weird looking stuff that is a insulated clotch stuff..... ML's have it. 163's and I think the G class as well.

Ok, so this is off the top of my head on Sunday morning before my 2nd cup of coffee. If I'm wrong so be it. :D

If you want to quiet down a 201 a bit, get some 1/8" jute and glue it to the outside of the lower portion of your vapor barrier.

Thanks Joe!

Where can I find some jute? Does it typically have adhesive on one side?

2nd cup is the true begining of the day.

the 02 g has just 10 mil white plastic with a bead of sticky black snot around the perimeter. very sticky, but comes off well when it zero degrees outside. (the interior door handle cable came loose at the latch. a must fix it now situation.)

different suppliers for american vs. german vs. austria vs south 'merica plants. (where do they make the cheeze class?)

Jute can be bought at about any store that sells cloth and such. Peice goods comes to mind. You gotta do your own glue. (sounds like your about as lazy as me)

I thought someone used to sell jute in sheets with adhesive on one side. You'd pull off a paper covering to expose the sticky side.

Can always use 3M spray.
