My tranny won't shift!!
Coming to work this morning in my TE, it wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear. Distance is about 5 miles and was around 30 degreesF. Have been having some flaring between 2nd and 3rd, but nothing I couldn't live with. Any thoughts?

Check your tranny fluid level. I had a tranny fluid leak in my W126 that caused the same syptoms.

I started getting this before my tranny went AWOL. I found, if I floored the throttle, it would then change up. I wouldn't take it to the redline though
After a few seconds, it would then quit 3rd or 4th gear, and go back to 2nd again. and i'd have to do the same again to get it to change up. The cause was water in the transmission fluid (from the tranny's radiator), the cost was rather high.

Thanks for the imput. It started shifting properly again last night and this morning, so I'm wondering if it isn't a computer problem somewhere? Will keep driving it till it gives up and will do what I have to, to get it right. I'm writing it off so it's all a business expense.

I would think that if you ignore it it could get very expensive very quickly, especially with transmissions, but I'm no expert. Plus, if you're not concerned about repair costs then it's no big deal. But then again, if there is a significant problem, you could avoid the trouble of leaving the car in the shop for however long the repair would take.
