I was reading a manual for the 96 E320 and apparently there is a "SMOG" alert that displays once the external pollutants reach a certain level. I was looking at the table that shows how the unit has been programmed and for some reason, the "SMOG" indication is disabled on the 96 AC/Heating panel.

Two questions: once the outside smog reaches a certain level, will the system go to an internal air recirc mode regardless of whether it would show a SMOG alert and second, why has the "SMOG" alert been disabled (would show up below the fan speed toward the left side on the bottom of display if active)?

Does "SMOG" come on the display in any of the newer 320 models on the environmental control system?
