W210 '00 horn question

Ok on my '00 E320 the horn sound very high, higher than on my W124 '94. So then I got another E320 '00 and compared the "honk" and it is indeed mine that is somehow higher. I then took a look at the horn itself and it says "Alto (high)". It's a Mercedes one. I dont have the part number on me, I'll look on it tomorrow.

But anyway, it sounds very weak and I need to get one that's not "alto" and that sounds deap like it's supposed to be. Anyone knows the part number (or part ) I should order?

Thanks.

As you probably know (or suspect) there are 2 horns.
The other one is hard to see, it's under the right headlight.
Try disconnecting the "easy" one (in front of the radiator) and see if the remaining horn (under the headlight) sounds wimpy or tinny sounding. We've replaced a fair number of horns. The one under the headlight is better accessed from below, after removing the front apron.

I'll give it a try tomorrow and see what happens.

In case it does sound weak, isn' there a way to rewire the current horns to make them sound better?

Not sure if this applies, but do you have a hi/lo or city/country horn switch? The 560 does, looks like a sideways exclamation mark, using the switch you can get a tinny sounding little horn or a full blast loud horn.

In regards to city/highway horns (fanfare horns I think the quieter ones are called) this was only an option for a few years it seems like, may have even been standard for awhile. I thought there was some market where it was required (I want to say NYC) but no idea why it would have only been installed on S class models if that is the case.

In regards to the E class horns, one or both horns is failing, it/they need to be replaced.
