Unhappy Hard Start on the '92 400E

Hello everyone. I must admit that I have not been here a while. In November I bought a 2001 Corvette Z06 and have been spending alot of intimate time with it . Anyway, I think the 400E became jealous . She dosent want to start right away like she used to. It doesn't seem to make a difference whether it's hot or cold. I get in, turn the key, and have to crank it 5-10 seconds before it starts. It sounds like it's not getting fuel. Once it starts, a light white cloud that smells like gas shoots out her exhaust and it runs funny for about 5 seconds. I have noticed that the engine temperature lately dosen't rise to what seems like normal operating temp. I live in Houston so it's only been like 40-60 degrees outside but the engine temp hangs down near the bottom, SOMETIMES rising to 1/4 the way. I was wondering if THAT had anything to do with it. Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks...Peter

In case anyone was wondering...at 130mph, I prefer the 400E over the Z06. Having a Corvette makes me really appreciate the quality of a MB. It's just so solid and quiet, and smooth!!!

Pull the vacuum line off of the fuel pressure regulator and pull vacuum on the regulator...IF it doesn't hold vacuum, replace the regulator.

Benzmac...

I figured that might be the problem, I just wanted to ask for pro opinions first. However, doesn't the car have a cold start injector? When would that come into play?

Cold start injector is activated when the coolant temp is below 15 degrees C.

May not be related to starting issues but sounds like you need a new thermostat. Your engine and mine should run NO COOLER than 80 degrees. The fuel injection system never goes into closed loop at those really low temps (I think).
