Transmission interchangeability
I have an 85, 300SD with a 722.416.02 transmission. Will a 722.301 transmission from a 1981 380 SEL interchange without a great deal of hassle?
My transmission has 180K on it and it flares quite a bit. The 722.301 only has 89K on it. Would I be better off simply rebuilding the original? Many thanks!

The 1985 300SD & 300DT use a different valve body than ANY other car so your best bet would be to overhaul the original.
Also the V-8's have a much larger bellhousing than the diesel engine does. So it wouldn't bolt up.
