Need picture w124 two 2 fan condensor set up

Hello,

I am upgrading my old 300E to have the two fan set up like the late model cars do. Anyone with a w124 with the two fan set up, please email me some pictures or post them here. Much appreciated,

Im sure E420s, E500, 500E, 400E, and some late model 300Es have them...help me out please

Have you tried eBay?

Some of the cars for sale on eBay have good hood-open shots. What are you looking for?... a head-on shot of the two fans?

thats exactly what I have been looking for. I have been searching the net for a few hours now, no find.

There is also a picture of a 2 fan setup in the DIY section at the top of the page under w124 radiator replacement - Ashman shows the fans as part of his radiator instructions. The best photo is almost at the bottom of the page - a little dark, but could be photoshopped or Fireworks enhanced if necessary.

Much help, although it is slightly different than the 1992 500E set up because I went to my friends house today and his was a little different, I will post pics when I figure that out too. Thanks,

If you're going to change to the dual A/C aux. fans you'll need to change the following:

1) powersteering cooling pipe;
2) fan ballast-resistor;
3) radiator reinforcement strut;

If you're going to a R134a condenser (recommended if your're going to R134a refrigerant) then you'll need a new dryer/receiver; o-rings; R134a temp. switch, and A/C hose,

The 500E is different in that it has TWO radiator reinforcement struts, and mounts one of the horns down below.

Unless you have to go to R134a, I would stick with R12 BUT still do the dual-fans. That baby will blow ICE-COLD.

I did the dual-fan upgrade with R134a, new condenser, and new A/C pump, and I'm very happy.

I did the R134a conversion WITHOUT the dual-fans and R134a condenser and the cooling performance was for my black wagon POOR.

Good luck,

I noticed most of the things you pointed out, however would it be better to have the 500E horn monunts or the regular ones like posted above?

The car is already converted to R134a, and it was blowing very cold how it was set up, but I decided to put in the dual fans. Everything is already for R134a like the core inside the car, and the dryer and the compressor. I think I might put R12 in it with R134a components because they are more efficient.

I was going to put in another relay for the fans, is that what you mean by the ballast?

Thanks

No need to do the 500E reinforcment for the horns.

No, the ballast resistor is different from a relay. On a wagon, it's located on the bottom and in front of the self-levelling resevoir.

Don't forget the powersteering cooler-line.

Neil,

Would explain the powersteering cooling pipe? What does it look like? Where these found? 500E?

All W124's with dual A/C aux. fans have a trapezoidal-shaped metal-pipe that wraps around the passenger's side aux. fan. You can see it clearly in each photo.

On W124's with single A/C aux. fans, the trapezoidal metal-pipe is in the center, because the single fan is in the center.
