Disabling alarm - 1992 500e
My alarm system is misbehaving. When I unlock the car and attempt to start the car, the alarm engages. However, the car does start. So I turn the ignition off, get out, lock and unlock the doors again until this doesn't happen anymore.
I have checked the archives and understand that there is a sensor in the lock mechanism that is prone to failure. My eventual plan is to put an after-market alarm/keyless entry system in. QUESTION - is there an easy way to just disable the factory alarm system without losing the central locking capability? I see two fuses that control the central alarm system, but assume that taking these out will also kill the central locking. Thanks in advance. Frank 1992 500e |
Hi,
On my 90 300E, the alarm module is beneath the passenger's feet. Remove carpeting and look there. I do not have access to my CD ROMS but the alarm module is small compared to the other modules I found there. It has two connectors that plug into it. I removed both while repairing my radio. Do a search on 124 wireless alarm. You may find another solution. Good luck, chicago124 |
Yup - I found it and disconnected the two cables. Now, I have to find a good aftermarket keyless/alarm solution and someone local who can do the installation. I'm in Las Vegas.

Hi,
Great. I found the link about the keyless alarm: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/tech-help/11777-i-did-keyless-entry-your-124-made-easy-less-than-%24100.html?highlight=124+keyless+alarm Good luck, chicago124 |
Hi,
Most fuses have more than one function assosciated with it. Been there, as they say. chicago124 |
