With the amount and type of night driving I do, no one understands the need for better lights than myself. I have put Euro lights in the cars I drive most.

Putting high wattage bulbs in US lights is not a good idea IMHO. Not only are you taxing the wiring and sockets that were not designed to handle the additional current and heat, but the effectiveness of your headlights is much more greatly effected by the reflector shape than the bulb brightness.

If you need better headlights, changing to Euro headlights is the only practical approach. Again IMHO.

Best of luck,

Martin, there is a mb dealership in the gta that has a flame broiled benz that was directly attributed to high wattage bulbs.... do a search in the forums on bulbs...the general consensus is to stay stock. BTW, the poor lad's insurance co., did not come good for the damage (extensive) due to the fact the bulbs ratings were so far out of spec. (power draw)

If the stock wiring is the same as in my 1993 320 CE (W124), there is a 1Volt drop from the battery to the bulbs. Stay with the stock bulbs and mount new separate wirings and relays to them first then change the bulbs too if you want. I will do the wiring upgrade myself soon....

i have 80/100w headlights (9004) and 100w fog lights(h4) in my 300sdl and i have yet to have a problem with them

I was going to go with higher wattage but stuck with the stock required ones with my euros and they STILL put out much better superior lighting (probably because of the way the reflector is within the glass)http://www.mbnz.org/gallery/pics/287...03114839am.jpg http://www.mbnz.org/gallery/pics/287...03114047am.jpg
