Question 93 600sl euro light conversion

I have purchased the euro lites thru mb, and when I get some time off will attempt to make the conversion. The original setup has the wiper assy. The questions I have are:

a) Other than the conversion of the electrical socket to match the new assy, are there any other electrical issues?

b) Will there be any issues with the original wiper assy?

c) Is this a basic bolt-in project?

I am hoping that this is a bolt in project, but searching the forums, I see that there may be some other factors that I am overlooking depending on the year and model of the mb. Before I get the significant other's baby dissassembled and initiate a possible divorce case, I thought I should ask for whatever experience/guidance that you can offer. BTW, the lights were an Xmas present to the better half....

Well, since no one else has posted, I'll give this a shot. What I say will be based on a 126 chassis, but there is a good chance it will be the same, or at least the same principle. On a 126, in addition to the electrical connector that you mentioned, you have to rearrange the order of the wires within the connector. I know which wire goes where on a 126, but I bet the colors and order is probably different on the 129. If this is the case, someone else will have to help you there. Since the 129s have the same type wiper assembly, both the US and euros have the one that goes along the bottom of the light, it would seem to me that they are in fact the same system and no changes will have to be made. All bolt holes should match up, and other than the small wiring, this should be a bolt up conversion.

feeling better...

thanx for the reply, mbtjc

I had purchased the units prior to searching the forums, and gave myself a bit if a fright when I did. I had visions of a sunday afternoon with the lady's sl half-a-part, with no going forward or back, and various parts hanging in the breeze. That would be a bump in the ol' marriage. Again thanx. With a bit of luck, one of the other members will know the proper connection for the plug assy.

On a 126 it is not quite bolt up because of the bottom headlight bracket where the wiper motor attaches on to. The US and euro wiper systems are quite different and this is the reason. Although I have never done a 129 conversion, I am confident that it will be nothing more than a bolt up since (I'm 98% sure) the wiper systems are the same. Good luck!

Although she's not my wife (yet), I wish my girlfriend had a V-12 Mercedes! I guess I'll have to live with her Saturn

Talking

tongue in cheek here.... the lady had been driving the sel, I had a 97 taurus sho, the sho decided to eat the camshafts...apparently a built in value added design feature.... I found the sl and traded the sho in...the lady was suitably impressed, then suggested that she would like to try it...I now have the sel for my work car.... I still can't figure out how she pulled that off.

Although I'm not married, I have come to learn that women tend to do things like that, and somehow always have the ability to Nevertheless, from a Taurus to a 600SEL isn't too shabby of a move

2 600's? are you a glutton of punishment?

I see you now have to of the 12cyl beasts. I have a 94 sl-600, and am trying to sort out failed wiring harnesses to the throttle atuators and the main CAN wiring. Insulation turned to dust.

water pump just started to leak the other day and have new one, but not eager to disassemble the beast to replace it.

I LOVE it when it runs. Saw on a site the other day ignition trigger $6500!!. Checked it out and that was correct!!
