Recommendations on car cover?
 

Was wondering what kind of car cover to use for my baby, 1991 SL500. I have been looking at the Noah, and have found one for 150 bucks. But the Noah seems to only be rated in the middle in quality with other brands rated higher on the car cover web sites.

I live in New England so would need something good for snow and rain, but I would like it to be as light as possible and easily folded/stored.

Any suggestions?

"The MAX" by BUDGE should be under $100 (I got mine on sale for $89.99) and protects as well as any I've seen. For long-term (as in "over the winter") I tied down a blue tarp over it as my Lincoln is parked under a shore pine = bird + resin.

Unwrapped it last Friday to give it a battery charge & a warmup: very happy with the results.

Paint looked dry & perfect (won't even have to wash it when Spring comes):D ! Cover looks new, tarp seems fine, no runs, rips or delamination.

At this rate I estimate it will probably last 10-12 winters. Maybe more.

Results may vary : fit is important, if it flaps around in a high wind a lot it will probably have a detrimental effect on the life of the cover.

I have the Noah. Two things I don't like about it. First after a day of driving and you cover the car it will slightly smear any road residue on the windshield. So when you uncover your prize, you will have to clean windshield. Sceond, if you ever drop the cover or wind blows it off, the inside material will pick up all types of dryed grass , tiny branches and what ever. You will play HELL to get that stuff out if you ever do.. Works excellent other wise. Would not buy another one.

Darn, I just ordered a Noah cover. Oh well, just have to be careful to not drop it, etc.

I have a noah too and live in New England too and don't have a garage so I have trouble with acorns dropping too. The noah cover is not the answer for us.

When searching for floor mats for Scott (run.exe) at Blue Ribbon Motoring (dba www.autoanything.com), I bought a car cover. The salesman (and myself) steared me to the Ultraguard (http://www.autoanything.com/ultraguardcovers.asp) and I ordered one in gray. It is fabricated in Orange County, CA and it should be here in a week.

I chose the Ultraguard because of it's durability, the thinness (can be washed in a home washing machine) and other factors too. Check out the link. I paid about $280 for it, including tax and shipping. Oh yeah, it's for the 500E.

PROBLEMS WITH NOAH/COVERCRAFT
 

Dear fellow members:

I want you all to be aware of a problem I encountered with my newly-purchased Noah car cover (Covercraft): With a perfectly clean car, the cover leaves an unsightly film on all the windows, requiring that they be cleaned. I found this situation unacceptable from a purportedly high-end product like Noah/Covercraft.

Unfortunately, my inquiries to Noah/Covercraft were met with less than appropriate customer service: They recommended that I commercially wash the brand new cover (at my time /expense), with neither an apology, nor any type of compensation.

I recommend that all board members look to a different manufacturer/brand until Noah/Covercraft solves their design and customer service problems.
