AC/Heater fan motor/cage replacement
300E, 87'. What is the correct method to use to remove and replace the plastic fan squirrel cages. They look really fragile and I don't want to break one in learning what method is best. Would someone who has been this way before share their method. My manual, CD, did not mention this, I could not find anything on motor/cage replacement.
Thanks, DanielW |

On my 380SL, which I think is the same basic design, I dosed the shaft-cage joint liberally with PB Blaster, then clamped one end of the shaft in a vice, and turned the cage on the shaft back and forth while applying pressure to pull it off. Then clamped the other end of the shaft and removed the second cage the same way.
