Transmission removal / installation
Hi All,
Can anyone help me with comprehensive removal / installation instructions for a 1982 300d turbo Transmission? I'm hoping it is not too difficult as this will save me a tremedous amount of labor costs. Thanks, Ed. |
Not that I have the answer to your question, but I see you have a history of slipping in first gear. I guess I'm wondering why you want to pull the tranny, did you get it checked out by someone knowledgeable with MB trannies?

Well Jeff,
I can't seem to find anybody that will do that check for me, They all say "it needs to be replaced" without even looking at it. I am so frustrated, I would hate to replace a fixable tranny, but i just don't know where to go from here. Seems like all the indy's around here are looking to make the "big buck" and just don't want to do a check to see if it's something less serious. I am willing to travel to find a good, honest shop, but have no idea where to look anymore. So now that i've whined like a little girl, the reason I wanted to know how to remove the tranny is I thought maybe I could buy a used one and try to replace it myself. I wish I could afford to take it into a shop and say "just do what it takes", but I can't. Ed. |
Well even if I were a millionaire I wouldn't put up with that kind of stuff. I hate when people try to screw you like that.... Did you check the "Good MB Shops" portion for respectable MB mechanics in philly? Here is one:
