Seat has a mind of its own
Driver's seat randomly adjusts itself, moving up and back, seat back moves as well. This frequently occurs while I'm driving and also happens without electrical power on; i.e, after I turn ignition off. I've replaced the seat switch to no avail. Now where do I look?

What car?

Glad I'm not the only one! My SD does that once in a blue moon. Hope someone here has an idea how to fix this.

Sorry Steve,

It seems that this can be a potential safety hazard, especially in extreme cases where a big person is driving down the freeway and the seat moves all the way forward, or a small guy and seat goes all the way back.

Check for ESA's, if your car has seat memory it'll have 'em, black boxes under the seats. I've seen 126 cars rub holes in the evap drains, dump water under the carpet and get the esa's wet. Then they flip out and let you know by pinning you between the steering wheel and seat back. The esa's will also get wet from sunroof leaks as well.

Thanks!! I'd have probably never found that.:)

Did you ever figure out what was causing this?
|
The ESA box (electronic seat adjustment) that stores information on seat postions if you have that option.
|
Perhaps if you stored both positions in the same place, this could be a temporary workaround?
Is it just that it tries to "recall" a saved position when wet? Would saving the positions to something drivable prevent this? -tp |
