126 transmission rebuild, should I?

I have 89 300SE. Flaring occurs 2/3 3/4 gears. I have adjusted modulator pressure 6 turns and eliminated all of it except when cold and shifting for 1st couple of times. I do get pretty hard shifts now when warm.

I have rebuild several engines, and am mechanicly inclined, however have never rebuilt an auto transmission.

Should I rebuild myself, and if so are a lot of special tools required, and does a new modulator valve come in the kits?

Your response is appreciated.

Have it rebuilt by specialist

I too have rebuilt engines and can do other heavy work, but I leave transmission rebuilding to the specialists. Take comfort in the fact that you can probably save a lot of money by pulling the transmission out yourself. It takes special tools to do some aspects of rebuilding. Make sure you find a GOOD specialist.
