Climate Control

This may be a dumb question, but bear with me.

Is it possible to interchange any climate control units with those from other newer MB's? I have a 1985 500 SEC, i hate the climate controls, and would like to switch them (realizing of course that custom wood panels will have to be made) with newer, more appealing climate controls.

If this is possible, what is involved (wiring, control units, etc.). Has anybody ever done this before? I have the opportunity to get the climate controls from a 1994 500SL, very nice. If anyone can give me any information about the climate control, schematics, interchange problems, i would appreciate it.

Thanks

Adam

VERY different systems. You'd have trouble enough fitting the seemingly identical controls from a 560SEC.

Climate Control

Could you let me know what sort of things would have to be done in order to change the controls? Is there a different series that would be easier to change?

Don't the later cars (W140) use the CANBUS system? It's essentially an on-board network that I can't begin to dream how difficult it would be to interface in an older car.
