I have not tried them myself, but, yeeeears ago, I used to work for a car rental agency. We used to have a guy come out once a week and fix all of our chips/bullseyes, and cracks. He was even able to fix a 15 inch crack once. I never had to call him back to re-do a repair.
I would see what a Professional charges, and have him do it. The main reason is that they will usually give you some sort of warranty. -Larry

I had a chip fixed on my W124, and it looked okay...the original chip was pretty nasty, so I didn't expect a perfect repair.
Most of the shops that do this work charge about $30 or so to do the repair. Some even do it for free if you let your insurance take care of it (as was my case). So why bother buying the kit in the first place?

I guess it really depends on the severity of the chip in your windshield. I did it to mine & it turned out fine.
