Talking Synthetic Vs Petroleoum Based

Greetings from Costa Rica, Im almost finished with the rebuild of my 103 engine on a 87 300 e euro and would like to use synthetic oil from mile 1, but have been told that petroleum based oil is best for breaking in engines. What do you all think? please reply.
Thank you
Ticobenz.

I would suggest doing a search to read the collective dialog on this topic. My suggestion is do NOT break in a rebuilt engine with synth. Break in with dino oil, then switch to synth after the break in period. The rings and seals will thank you for many miles to come.

I'm a dealer for Torco Racing Oils . . .

They recommend breaking an engine in for 1000-1500 miles PRIOR to using SYNTHETIC oil. This is mainly to drain any machining debris from the engine . . .
