93 400E Part Number or name
Howdy Folks,
I am fixing to replace the air intake hoses (2) in my 93 400e, one end is attached to the grill and the other end to the airfilter housing. It is black in color, about 5 inches in diameter and 2ft in length. For some reason none of the online catalogs have them listed as 'air intake hose'. Does anyone know what is the correct name/number for this part ?? Also, there is a black connector that plugs into the coolant reservoir sensor. This connector seems to be worn out due to coolant leakage and the raditor light comes on in the dash once in a while. Again, I don't know what this part is called. Please advise. Before giving up on net sources, call Phil at FastLane. They have LOTS more parts in stock than show in the 'catalog'. What he has done for me is e-mail me a pic of the exploded diagram for the section in question, then I'll call him back with the item locator number, and he can usually get the part much cheaper than the dealer.

I second Steve's comments. I replaced my air intake hoses from FastLane. Much cheaper than the dealer. Call Phil and he'll treat you right!
RE: the coolant tank sensor, the sensors themselves do go bad fairly often. I replaced mine a couple years ago. The floats can get filled with coolant or they can leak just enough to short out the connector plug. Cheap fix.

smk_texas,
Never seen a green 400e. Sounds cool. Post a picture some time if you get a chance. (Mine's black pearl.)

Tim,
Fastlane has the part for $29.00 a piece which I think is a great price. I checked with some dealers in the Dallas area and they quoted $59 ea. I will be visiting a salvage yard tomorrow for a decent used set. If I can't find it then I will order it from Phil@Fastlane. Hope this helps. Thanks smk_texas 93 400E 86 BMW 325E |
