C43 sparkplug / air filter change

Does anyone have any advice / instructions on changing the sparkpugs on a C43? Also, any comments on a K&N air filter for same? Thanks for any help in advance.

Spark plugs-- use original equipment or at least the same design. Stay away from Splitfire or other such "miracle" plugs. Equally important is to apply a light coating of Neversieze compound on the plug threads before installation. This'll help in removing the plugs next time. Every so often, somebody reports on not being able to remove a spark plug from their engine. Neversieze prevents this problem.

K&N filter-- I'm not a big fan of this product. You're trading air cleanliness to reduce restriction of air coming in. This is only my opinion. For more discussion on this matter go to the following web site and click on air filters:

AMG did not leave your engine wanting for intake air. You will probably make no extra power with an aftermarket filter. Why would the premier tuner of MB cars leave cheap power on the table? Doubtful.

I have heard from several sources that air filter quality effects MAS life as well as the amount of gunk that makes it into your engine. If I were you, I wouldn't bother with anything other than an OEM filter.

For plugs, the same holds true. MB engines are picky about plugs. Many an owner has experienced all kinds of problems caused by using non-OE plugs. As to changing them, there are 16 or them, and the M113 is a bit of a squeeze in the W202, so get used to contorting your hand. Some folks find the MB plug cap-puller useful.

I appreciate your responses. I would like to know if there is a better way to get to the plugs, particularly those in the rear.

Just another small point, when you are changing sparkplugs. I like to apply a small amount of dielectric grease in the end of the sparkplug boot. This tends to seal out moisture, and sure makes the wires come off easier the next time.
But, you probably knew that.:)
