Can i use other shock absorber if the original 230TE is not available?
Is there a big difference? Is the 230TE absorber hydraulic and can i use the 260E or 280 shock absorber? Thanks in advance. Azudin O Fuad Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia ------------------ |
All of the "touring" (sta. wagons) have leveling systems. Unless you never put a load in the rear of your wagon I suggest you keep the leveling system. Any of the same series of cars use the same rear shocks,ie; W124 chassis.

Actually, not all had the load-leveling suspension, I respectfully submit...the first thing you need to do is determine if you have this system (you'd notice that there's an extra fluid reservoir under the hood, with a decal specifying hydraulic fluid). If you do, you're really best served by changing it with the proper replacement; otherwise you need yto close off a big chunk of that particular hydraulic system, and vehicle handling instability WILL be a result!
Wish I had better news....perhaps you lack load leveling, and in that case the shocks are comparatively cheap. Good luck! ------------------ Best regards, Michael '92 500E '88 300TE |
