This is a lame question but how do you drain the anitfreeze to change the thermostat without running anitfreeze all over the alternator? There is always antifreeze the is held back behind the thermostat until the seal is broken unless of course you drain the block which is a real challenge.
Any ideas? ------------------ 82 300SD 100K 91 Caprice SS 92 Jetta TD |
There is a block drain just above(and forward) of the starter. Its a short 19mm(okay maybe 17mm)bolt.That's the only way
I know of to be "sure" that there isn't any coolant hiding behind the thermostat. Randy D. ------------------ W.R.Durrance ASE Master Tech Mercedes Tech 19 Years |
I was afraid that was the case. Any coolant that is left in the block is then wasted unless someone has a way of collecting it.
