Thanks again for all the help I have received here. A few more questions please. I notice while changing my oil that what I believe is the torque converter (the big round thing between engine and transmission) is all wet. The car has 110k miles and no visible leak on ground. This is probably a simple question but does the torque conv. and Automatic transmission use the same ATF source? Where is it filled from in the engine compartment and should I check the level to see if it is low? Must the seal be replaced, the car runs fine otherwise, what damage would I do? Can I just keep on making sure that the ATF level is correct? What would be the procedure to change the ATF fluid and filter? Thanks

If your torqe converter seal was leaking the transmission have to remove & replace seals, gaskets. to refill ATF is from your trans filler tube,to change filter you have remove trans pan replace pan gasket & filter, there is two drain plugs, oil pan & torqe converter remove plugs drain fluid then replace gasket, filter, you must replace drain plug seals.
hope this help.

Could you please clarify how to check and fill ATF fluid? Where is the trans filler tube located and which type should I use? Thanks

Warm up car and leave idling on flat surface.
Check dipstick by unlocking flipping the dipstick lock and pulling dipstick out near the firewall on passenger side(North American). If you are not familiar with this or do not have allen key(hex)s etc,let the dealer do it,it is relatively cheap,

Hi, Ken:

You can get more detail on automatic transmission service by searching the archive on the topic "94 C280: Where is ATF drain plug?". I believe it's quite similar to your 91' E class.
