Tried to power bleed the clutch cylinders
Yesterday, I tried to use the Power Bleeder to flush/bleed the clutch slave and master cylinders. When I attached the Power Bleeder to the brake reservoir on the 240D and pumped up the bleeder, I had fluid leaking profusely out of the reseveroir. It was coming from the brittle and cracked black rubber caps. Are these low level sensors with overflow check valves?
How do the shops use their bleeders on this system? Is there something I am missing and can I get replacement caps somewhere?

I use the pressure bleeder on these master cylinders with no trouble. Maybe you can get a new reservoir with new valves and sensors.
Good luck, |

Michael:
I'll throw in my 2 cents. My bleeder comes with a special adapter that replaces the cap on the brake mater cyl. reservoir. I assume yours does as well and that it was properly snugged down and the hose properly connected to the adapter. If you then pressurize the tank and see fluid coming out anywhere on the reservoir/master cyl., I'd say these parts need to be replaced. They should not leak. |

OK, then it looks like I need a new reseveroir.
THANKS!

The 240D is up and running again. I received the new reservoir the other day and and installed it yesterday. I power bled the clutch slave, but also found it helpful to have my son pump the clutch pedal a few times. That blew out the remaining air.
Now it's on to installing the euro lights and figuring out why the throttle linkage hits the top of the IP at only half throttle. Maybe this car can get a little faster yet!
