W124 Seat Fuse blowing.

Hi folks.

Got a problem with the power seats on my 500E.... the drivers seat works fine, and the passenger seat mostly works fine...*but*... try and recline the backrest and it blows the fuse. The backrest tilts forwards fine, but not backwards.

I assume its not the motor as it'd be a common motor for each direction right? So.... could it be the relay? Wheres the relay located on these?

Cheers,

Bri

try adjusting with the door open.
a lot of times, the wiring in the hinge area shorts.

I ran into this problem on my 560SEL. It turned out to be a broken seat spring had cut into the wire bundle under the seat. I pulled out the seat, repaired the spring with a small piece of steel pipe, and spliced and insulated the damaged wires. Fixed it.
