O2 sensor dead after 6 months???

My car started hesitating on me again. It had some other problems too but those are already taken care of.

First thing I did was test the O2 sensor, and if I remember correctly, the values from it are upposed to be between 0 and 1V, mine reads 3.4V and more, and I remember it did not do this before, my question is why would it die so fast?

It's not a bosch part, but it had the same specs and was much cheaper, I guess you get what you pay for, go figure....

It makes sense really cause if the O2 says the engien is burning so much the computer tries to lean out the mixture as far as possible and that's why it hesitates so much....

just wanted to share what I found.

If you are reading 3.4 volts on the signal side, you may have an internal short ( from the heater side to the signal side ).;)

sure enough, it was the heating connection that was dropping voltage into the O2, I unpluged it until I have a chance to fix it up and the car runs great.

At first I completely unpluged the O2 and man did it burn a lot of gas like that.... WHEW!!!

70km on a 1/4 of a tank, but when I stepped on it, it flew!
for all you dragsters out there he he he :)

also if the car hesitates, you can unplug the O2 and so long to hesitation Hello to crappy gas mileage, just from my experiments :)

Next time buy either a Bosch or an NGK O2 sensor. Can't be beat in my experiences.;)

yep I got one on the way, this one is a niehoff, I have no opinion about them.

It is my understanding, that there are only about 3 or 4 true mfg's of O2 sensors in the world.
Chances are your Niehoff may well turn out to be a Bosch or NGK anyway.
Good luck.:)
