Is this the cause of my problems?

I had a failed vacuum modulator that was allowing transmission fluid to be drawn into the bottom plentum of my intake manifold. With the manifold off, I had discovered that one of the o-rings of the eight seals for the top and bottom to join the two intakes together was bad and failed. This is the cylinder that I could not get to fire. Has anyone else experienced this problem? (When we bought the car, it was not running. )

I don't know the car, but I don't see how the failed o-ring could cause the cylinder not to fire. However, since that seal failed, it might be that most of the tranny oil got sucked up that runner, deteriorating that seal first. If so, I would pull and check the injector at the end of that runner - perhaps it is oiled up and gummy. If the case, check the others, too.
