Atlanta
The prices are as follows near my house in a southern suburb of Atlanta: 1. $1.49 for 87 2. $1.59 for 89 3. $1.69 for 93 All prices at a Chevron station this morning. We are usually very fortunate to have some of the cheapest fuel prices in the country here in Altanta. I really don't know why it's that way but it's very hard to complain about after I just read some of the prices you all are paying in other areas of the US and Canada. Dale |

93 octane is about a dime shy of $2.00/gal here in southern WI.
Apparently the state AG is checking into the recent price hikes, but I'm not sure why? Besides the threat of war, the colder than usual weather, Venezuelan oil workers' strikes and poltical turbulence in Nigeria have dramatically affected prices. I think oil is $37/barrel right now and probably will hit that magic $40/barrel. Hopefully after a "short" war, prices will plummet like they did in '91 -- down to $18/barrel! |

At Texaco in Texas...
Premium is between $1.71 - $1.74...depending on what day it is. I suspect is goes up on weekends and holidays. Higher fuel prices translates to less bottom line...this affects FedEx, where I work. So a much needed cost-of-living raise may not manifest itself at all this year... ...but the utility companies can whine about it and get rate hikes approved to transfer the costs to the consumer. Wish we could do that! "I'm raising my salary because my day care, utility and gas costs went up"...

In S. Texas it is as low as $1.47 for reg.
I have to agree with blackmercedes. We got ourselves into this bind not only with the cars we drive but with the politicians we elect. Bush was an a..hole when he lived in Texas and still is. He had the 2 compaanies he owned handed to him, neither company ever made a profit, his daddy arranged for them to be bought out by firends at outrageous prices and Shrub walked away with a fortune because of insider trading. The same insider trading that he is trying to nail Martha Stewart for. Tell me where the man ever learned about business. As we say here, "He is all hat and no herd". It takes more than just buying a pair of boots to fill them. |

who's complainin'?
i'm not complaining about high prices(although i must admit i don't like 'em!)up here the gas co's tell us 'that it's not their fault prices are so high-it's all the taxes they have built in to the price' and that they're only making about 2-3 cents/litre.i guess about 10 cents per gallon.i've heard of loss-leaders but i can't think of any other industry that runs their bussiness like this hoping i MIGHT buy a soda or bag of chips to help them turn a profit!

Hmm . . . a Hummer H1 has a 42 gal tank (no pun intended), the H2 has a 32 gal, the Maybach is 29 and the Ford Expedition is 26 . . so our CA (high taxes and specially formulated fuel) would be shelling out $96.60, $73.60, $66.70 and $59.80 to fill up?

If anyone has a BJ's wholesale club near them, check out their gas prices. Ours has unleaded 87 for $1.529 and premium 93 octane for $1.669. They don't sell plus, or diesel. Of course, at the end of November, their premium was $1.399... BJ's prices seem to be a good 10-12 cents a gallon below the next cheapest, albeit name brand, stations. The BJ's gas is their own "brand", although they are 87 and 93 octane, and my '91 TE seems just fine with it....
Diesel here is very close to $2 a gallon, with "premium diesel" (Texaco/Sunoco/Gulf) approaching $2.20. |
